Technopreneurship

The combination of technology and entrepreneurship into a single model or innovation to maximize profit and develop business.

Digital Technology

The use of digital technology in managing any operations and processes such as the Internet of things, telecommunications, manufacturing in information technologies, etc.

Educational Technology

The concept of teaching and learning through the efficient medium of technology such as educational 5.0, teaching and learning innovation, modern tools in education application, etc.

Green Technology

The need for economic development and responsibility towards the environment in increasing the use of environment-friendly approaches.

Guidelines

Open to FPTV UTHM students, School of Education, UTM students, and Polytechnic students ONLY.

  1. Ideas, projects, or products proposed for this competition should have never been previously submitted in national or international competitions.
  2. Participation is open to individual or group projects (maximum of FOUR (4) people per group, including the Project Leader).
  3. Each individual is only allowed to enter this competition in not more than three (3) entries either as a Project Leader or member.
  4. All TVET RIC 2023 committee members are allowed to submit their entries as project members only.
  5. Competition materials to be submitted MUST be in English. Two (2) required materials for this competition are:

    a. Poster
        i. Size dimension: A3 (29.7 x 42.0 in cm)
       ii. Format: pdf
      iii. Apply the following name formatting when labeling your poster
          GroupLeaderName_institution name.pdf
          Eg: MuhammadAli_UTHM.pdf
     iv. Please follow TVET RIC 2023 poster content requirements below:
          ● Name of Institution
          ● Name of Project
          ● Name of Leader & Project Members
          ● Project Description
          ● Methodology
          ● Output/Product/Design
          ● Impact of Project

    b. Video Presentation

    i. Video duration is strictly limited to 3 minutes only.
    ii. Video must be uploaded to the YouTube channel. Kindly set the privacy setting
        to “UNLISTED” so that the video is restricted to only the internal audiences
        of this competition who have the link.
    iii. The video content should consist of the following qualities: 

        ● Clear description and creative
        ● Clear sound and good lighting quality
        ● Minimum background noise

    ** These two (2) materials need to be submitted together with the registration form

  6. Please refer to the Assessment Criteria division for a detailed description of the assessment criteria
  7. The competition materials will be evaluated by appointed external juries.
  8. A registration form can be accessed at t http://bit.ly/RegisterRIC2023  from 25th MAY 2023 until 24th JULY 2023.
  9. Results will be announced on 14th September 2023 via Youtube (will be informed later) at 10:00 a.m.* Any changes will be notified.

Assessment Criteria

1. Innovation

The project is focused on a new innovative, idea, and substantially improved design

2. Feasibility & Risks

The project is feasible and the risks have been identified

3. Budget

The project budget is justified and effective

4. Impact

The project has impact on the targeted group and scope of the project.

5. Originality

The product/project is developed based on an original idea or a new intervention.

6. Creativity

The product/project shows outstanding/dynamic ideas

7. Application

The product/project is practical, easy to use and solve the identified problem

8. Functionality

The degree of functionality (features & usefulness) of the product/project to the user.

9. Poster

Based on the poster design; clear explanation of the project through the use of infographic; suitable color combination, layout & text.

10. Video Presentation

The content is delivered fluently within 1-3 minutes; clear explanation of the project; follow the flow of a presentation

  4. What is the participation fee? The participation fee is only RM10.
  5. Can I submit more than one entry?
    Yes, but not exceeding 3 entries.
  6. Can I submit an innovative product that has been entered in any innovation competition?
    It depends on the level of competition you have participated in. TVETRIC is a national-level competition. Therefore, innovative products that have participated in competitions at the national level and above are not allowed. However, innovative products that have participated in competitions at the state and zone levels are allowed to participate in TVETRIC.
  7. What are the evaluation criteria for the products/entries?
    RICTVET sets benchmarks for the evaluation of products.
  8. If I want to participate in TVETRIC2023 solo, is it allowed?
    Yes, it is allowed.
  9. If my group consists of more than 4 people, can we participate in RICTVET2023?
    No, it is not allowed.
  10. Is group members from external agencies (IPT/NGO/public/private agencies) other than the three (3) specified institutions allowed?
    Yes, it is allowed.
  11. Are alumni from the three specified institutions allowed to participate in RICTVET2023?
    No, they are not allowed.
  12. Are there templates provided for the preparation of posters and videos?
    No, but you can be creative by following the guidelines stated on the website.
